Making Global Food Supply Chains Work for Migrants
Ebenso geht das Seminar der Frage nach, welche Perspektiven zur Verbesserung der Situation die europäische Richtlinie zu menschenrechtlichen Sorgfaltspflichten dazu beitragen kann.
Seminarsprache ist: Englisch
This seminar aims at bringing attention to human rights violations that migrant workers, and in particular women working in global food supply chains, are facing, and at presenting solutions to both EU policy makers and European youth. The ‘Fridays for Future’ movement has shown that young people are a relevant driver for change. The project ‘Our Food. Our Future’ aims at empowering European youth to stand up for sustainable food supply chains that respect migrant workers’ rights and reduce climate change, hunger, and poverty as key drivers of migration.
In this seminar, Oxfam, Action Aid France and Südwind will present their new research on how the new European Commission’s Directive on Human Rights Due Diligence could contribute to respecting migrant workers’ rights. The research also proposes solutions on how to remedy the plight of migrant women workers and discusses to what extent corporate due diligence and other measures are an efficient tool in this regard
